Course In Spanish On OSHA Regulation Fall Protection
TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- The U.S. Labor Department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Orange & Rockland Utilities (O & R) will present a free, day-long course in Spanish on construction safety and health in the workplace on Sunday, April 2.
The course, which will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., will be presented at Orange and Rockland Utilities in Spring Valley, N.Y.
The course will address such topics as fall protection, excavation safety, electrical hazards, scaffolds, ladders, hand and power tools, hazard communication, industrial hygiene and fire protection.
There will be an emphasis on 'hands-on" training, with workers handling equipment and tools as they learn correct methods of working safely in a variety of construction situations. O & R will make a presentation on the hazards associated with overhead power lines, which will include a live simulation of what happens when the human body comes in contact with an energized power line. A miniature tubular welded scaffold will be used for training in scaffold safety.
